Guam Governor greets visiting International Governance Advisor

Guam Governor Eddie Calvo (c) and Guam Commission on Decolonisation Ed Alvarez (left) greet International Advisor on Governance and Multilateral Diplomacy Dr. Carlyle Corbin (right) who paid a courtesy call on the Governor at official Government Headquarters  at Adelup.

Governor Calvo delivered the first State of the Island Address of his second term on Feb. 16 following his re-election last November. Alvarez coordinates the territory's political status education process leading to a referendum on the political status options of integration, free association and independence.

Corbin is in the Pacific on a research mission to examine aspects of the dependency and autonomous governance models in several Pacific dependencies and associated states. He is the former Representative for External Affairs of the U.S. Virgin Islands Government, and served as the Secretary-General of the Offshore Governors Forum comprised of the five elected governors of American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
